Custom Clothing Packaging
Packaging for apparel and fashion products, developed around folded garment size, gift versus shipping, and whether a paper bag is part of the pack.
Packaging for Fashion & Apparel
Apparel packaging starts from the folded size, not from a generic shirt box. Knit, woven and denim stacks have different bulk. A gift box that looks right empty can be too tight once tissue and a garment are in.
Programs split into presentation (gift box or magnetic box) and fulfillment (mailer, sometimes with a paper bag). The bag must be sized after the box, or it will not take the finished pack.
Key Packaging Considerations for Apparel
- Folded Size
Measure the folded garment the way it will be packed, including tissue if you use it. - Gift vs Ship
A rigid gift box and a corrugated mailer are different structures and different quotes. - Bag Fit
A paper bag added after the box is locked often no longer fits. Size them together. - Print vs Kraft
Retail gift boxes usually carry the brand on the lid. Mailers can stay kraft plus a label.
Recommended Packaging Solutions
These formats are already on the site. The right combination depends on your product size, presentation and shipping method.
Choosing the Right Packaging Structure
The matches below are starting points, not rules. A structure that is often suitable for one product can be the wrong choice for another, depending on weight, opening and how the pack ships.
| Gift shirt or knit | A rigid or folding gift box sized to the fold is often suitable. |
|---|---|
| Online apparel order | A mailer is often suitable; add a presentation box only if you need that unboxing. |
| Store carry | A paper bag sized to the garment or to the inner box. |
| Small accessory with apparel | An insert or inner carton can be considered so the accessory does not mark the fabric. |
| Heavy denim or stacked units | Board grade follows the stack height, not a light shirt spec. |
Materials
Greyboard and art paper for gift apparel boxes; kraft and corrugated for mailers; paper bag stock for carriers. Inserts are used less often than in jewelry, but they appear when a small accessory ships with the garment.
Printing & Finishing
Gift lids can take foil and lamination. Mailers usually use simple print or kraft. Matching a gift lid finish onto a courier mailer is rarely the right specification.
Packaging Development Process
Product Requirements
Folded size, gift or ship, bag yes/no, quantity.
Structure Development
Inner size is drawn from the fold plus tissue, not from a stock shirt box.
Material Selection
Gift board or corrugated is chosen from the channel.
Artwork & Finishing
Brand goes on the gift face or on a mailer print, not automatically on both.
Prototype / Sample
Pack a real folded garment. Check close and bag fit.
Production
Boxes and bags follow the approved inner size.
Quality Control
Inner size and print are checked against the sample.

FAQ
How should clothing packaging be sized?
From the folded garment, including tissue if you use it. A stock shirt box is only a starting point.
Should apparel use a gift box or a mailer?
Use a gift box when the pack is presented. Use a mailer when the unit is fulfilled as a parcel. Some programs use both, one inside the other.
Can you add a paper bag to an apparel box?
Yes. The bag is sized to the finished box. Send both requirements in the brief.
What if I sell both in store and online?
You may need two structures, or one presentation box plus a mailer. That is clearer than forcing one box to do both jobs.
What materials are typical?
Art paper and greyboard for gifts; kraft and corrugated for mailers; paper bag stock for carriers.
How do I start an apparel packaging project?
Send folded size, quantity, gift or ship, and whether a bag is required.
