Materials & Finishing for Gift Boxes

Materials

  • Paperboard / greyboard — used on rigid and gift-box constructions.
  • Art / specialty paper wrap — used as the print or wrap surface on rigid and folding gift boxes.
  • Kraft where suitable — used when a kraft surface fits the product and the brand.
  • Molded-pulp or paper inserts — used to hold the item in place. See Inserts.

Finishing

  • Foil stamping — metal foil used for brand marks and key details.
  • Embossing / debossing — raised or recessed brand detail on paper surfaces.
  • Matte or gloss lamination — surface protection on gift box wraps.
  • Spot UV — selective gloss on printed areas.
