Food packaging on this page means paper boxes, bags and related structures for dry and gift food. It is not a claim that every construction is a food-contact primary pack. Board, window, bag and contact surface are chosen from the product, the fill weight and how the unit will be used.
- Product type and fill weight
Bakery, dry snacks and gift food load the board differently. Weight and how the product sits in the carton matter more than a generic “food box” label. - Food-contact requirements
The specification changes if food touches the paper, sits in an inner bag or tray, or only meets an outer presentation pack. Direct-contact needs are confirmed for that product, material and intended use — not as a blanket food-safe claim. This page does not list a certificate number. - Window vs closed packaging
A window shows the product and changes wall strength and the face layout. Confirm the window before artwork is locked. - Grease and moisture
Where the product is greasy or moist, that characteristic should be in the brief so board and any inner structure can be reviewed. This page does not claim grease-proof or moisture-proof performance. - Shelf vs shipping
A folding carton for a shelf and a corrugated mailer for a parcel are different structures and different quotes. - Box and paper bag
If a paper bag is part of the program, it is sized to the finished box. Adding a bag after the box is locked often fails the fit.

A bakery carton, a gift-food box and a shipped food gift often need different constructions. The matches below are starting points — product type, fill weight, contact surface and shelf vs shipping decide the structure.
Folding Paper Boxes
Typical use: bakery, dry food and lighter gift food on a shelf.
What affects the spec: fill weight, opening, whether a window is required, and whether food meets the paper or an inner bag.
When it may be suitable: when a folding carton can hold the product and the board is chosen from that weight. See paper boxes.
Rigid / Gift Boxes
Typical use: gift food where the box is part of the presentation.
What affects the spec: product size, lid type, insert if pieces must sit in place, and whether an outer mailer is also required.
When it may be suitable: when presentation matters more than a light folding wall. Greyboard is a wrap structure, not automatically a food-contact surface. See gift boxes.
Mailer / Shipping Boxes
Typical use: an outer pack when a food gift or boxed product ships as a parcel.
What affects the spec: the closed size of the inner pack, how the mailer closes, and whether the shipper is the only outer.
When it may be suitable: when fulfillment is a separate job from the presentation carton. See mailer shipping boxes.
Paper Bags
Typical use: a carry bag, or a bag used with a finished food box.
What affects the spec: finished box length, width and height, handle style, and whether the bag is also a food-contact pack.

Packaging Inserts / Trays
Typical use: jars, pieces or a gift set that need a defined well.
What affects the spec: product outline, how many items share the box, and whether the tray surface may touch unwrapped food.

Recommended Packaging Formats
These formats are already on the site. Start from the carton or bag the food is sold in, then add a tray, a gift structure or a mailer only when the program needs them.
Custom Inserts for Food Products
Inserts and trays can be used when jars need positioning, several items need separation, a gift set needs a layout, or the product needs a defined cavity. They do not automatically prevent damage in transit or on a shelf.
Paper or cardboard inserts are common when the outline can be cut. Molded pulp can be considered when a formed tray fits the product. Final cavity size is confirmed during development and sampling.
If the insert surface may touch food or an unwrapped item, the material and intended use must be reviewed for that brief. An insert used only to hold a sealed inner bag or jar is a different specification from a tray that contacts the food.

Materials, Printing & Finishing
Kraft paper and paperboard are common for food cartons. Corrugated board is used for shippers. Greyboard appears on a gift structure when presentation needs a rigid wall. Molded pulp can be considered for a suitable tray. Material follows product weight, product characteristics, structure, shelf vs shipping, presentation and — where it applies — the food-contact surface. Food-contact needs for the surface that touches the product are confirmed on the quote for that product. This page does not list a certificate number.
CMYK, Pantone or spot color, and kraft printing are usual routes. Interior print can be added when the open carton is part of the face; exterior print carries color and logo on the closed pack. Print is placed after the panel size is locked.
Matte or gloss lamination, foil, embossing, debossing and spot UV can be specified on a presentation wrap. They are not assumed suitable for a surface that may touch food. Where the pack is an outer presentation layer, finishing can be discussed separately from the food-contact surface. Finishing is confirmed on sample.

Product Requirements
We review product type, dimensions, fill weight, shape, grease or moisture notes, whether contact is direct or through an inner bag or tray, window, bag and shelf or shipping use.
Structure Development
Carton or box style, opening, window if required, insert or tray, and bag dimensions where a bag is part of the program.
Material & Artwork
Paper or board, food-contact requirements where they apply, printing, finishing and artwork are confirmed before sampling.
Prototype / Sample
A sample is used to review product fit, opening, window position, insert sit and presentation. Where possible, fill the pack with the actual product or a representative fill weight.
Production & Quality Control
After approval, production follows the confirmed specification and approved sample. Size, print and structure are checked against that sample.

The Brief
A food brand needs a paper carton around a dry or bakery product, with the option of a window and a matching bag.
The Packaging Challenge
Fill weight, whether food meets the paper or an inner bag, and whether a window is required all change the carton. A bag guessed before the box is locked will not fit.
Our Solution
The carton is developed from product type, fill weight and opening. Window position, bag size and any tray are drawn after the closed box size is set. Fit and opening are reviewed during sampling.
Why This Structure
A folding paper box can be suitable for many bakery and dry-food programs when the board matches the fill weight. It is not assumed for every food brief. Gift presentation may need a rigid box; parcel dispatch may need a mailer around the carton.
