Custom Candle Packaging

Packaging for candle jars and gift sets, developed around jar diameter, lid height, gift presentation and whether the unit also ships as a parcel.

Packaging for Candles

Candle packaging is built around a jar, not around a standard gift-box rectangle. Diameter, lid height and whether the candle is gifted or shipped decide the structure. A sleeve that looks correct on a shelf may not protect glass in a courier network.

Gift boxes and folding paper boxes are the usual presentation options. Mailer boxes are used when the candle is fulfilled as an e-commerce unit. Inserts follow the jar so glass does not walk inside the pack.

Key Packaging Considerations for Candles

  • Jar Diameter
The insert follows the glass. A square guess leaves the jar free to slide.
  • Lid Height
Wood, metal or glass lids add height. Measure the closed jar, not the vessel alone.
  • Gift vs Parcel
A rigid gift box and a corrugated mailer are different constructions and should be quoted as such.
  • Label vs Print
Some programs print the box; others keep a jar label and a simpler sleeve or carton.

These formats are already on the site. The right combination depends on your product size, presentation and shipping method.

Choosing the Right Packaging Structure

The matches below are starting points, not rules. A structure that is often suitable for one product can be the wrong choice for another, depending on weight, opening and how the pack ships.

Gift candle A rigid or folding gift box with a jar insert is often suitable.
Retail sleeve A paper box or sleeve can be considered when the jar already carries the brand.
Two-jar set A box plus a two-well insert keeps jars from knocking.
E-commerce unit A mailer, with or without an inner presentation box, can be considered.
Round jar only The cavity should be round or well-notched; a square well is rarely enough.

Materials

Greyboard and art paper for gift boxes; folding board for sleeves; corrugated for mailers. Molded pulp is useful for a jar well. Kraft is common on shippers and on quieter gift wraps.

Printing & Finishing

Print and foil belong on the gift face. Mailers often stay kraft or simple one-color print. Spot UV on a candle gift lid is optional and should sit away from edges that scuff in a bag.

Custom Inserts for Product Fit

The candle insert is a well sized to the jar. Pulp or card can be used. Height must include the lid. If the candle ships, the insert and the outer board are specified for that drop, not only for the shelf photo.

Packaging Development Process

01

Product Requirements

Jar diameter, closed height, single or set, gift or ship.

02

Structure Development

Well size and outer style are drawn from the jar, not from a stock box.

03

Material Selection

Gift board or corrugated is chosen from how the unit will move.

04

Artwork & Finishing

Print is placed on the gift face after the size is locked.

05

Prototype / Sample

Drop the closed jar into the well and close the pack.

06

Production

Boxes and inserts follow the approved diameter and height.

07

Quality Control

Well fit and outer size are checked against the sample.

FAQ

How should candle packaging fit the jar?

The insert should follow the jar diameter and the closed height including the lid. A generic square well usually lets the glass slide.

Can candle packaging be a gift box and a shipper?

Those are often two structures. A presentation box can sit inside a mailer, or the mailer can be the only outer. Confirm both if you need both.

Do you make packaging for candle sets?

Yes. Two-jar layouts use a box plus a two-well insert so the jars do not knock.

What materials are used for candle boxes?

Greyboard and art paper for gifts; folding board for sleeves; corrugated for mailers; molded pulp for jar wells where it fits.

Can the box be printed if the jar already has a label?

Yes. Some programs print only a small mark on the box; others print a full wrap. That choice is part of the brief.

How do I start a candle packaging project?

Send jar diameter, closed height, quantity and whether the pack is for gift or shipping. The well is proposed from the jar.
