Candle packaging is built around the vessel, not a stock gift-box rectangle. Diameter, closed height and whether the unit is gifted or shipped decide the structure. This page does not claim breakage-proof, heat-proof or guaranteed transit protection.
- Vessel size and fit
Jars vary in diameter, height and outline. Inner cavity and outer size should follow the actual product. Include the lid, base and any cap or label when confirming finished dimensions — not the vessel body alone. - Glass jar and insert fit
An insert can help control movement inside the box. Geometry is drawn from the actual vessel, not a generic jar size. An insert does not guarantee breakage prevention. The pack should be evaluated as a complete system for handling and shipping. - Product weight
A heavier candle may need a different board, structure or insert than a light vessel. Board thickness is confirmed on the quote and sample — not as a fixed rule on this page. - Gift presentation
Gift sets may use a rigid gift box, a magnetic box or a lid-and-base construction, depending on the product and how the pack should open. - Shipping and handling
If the candle ships individually, the presentation box and the outer mailer are separate specs. This page does not claim guaranteed protection in transit.

A single retail candle, a gift set and a parcel order often need different constructions. The matches below are starting points — vessel size, weight and how the pack is filled or shipped decide the structure.
Folding Paper Boxes
Typical use: single candles, lighter vessels, retail cartons and seasonal collections.
What affects the spec: vessel dimensions, weight and whether an insert is still required inside the carton.
When it may be suitable: when a folding wall is enough and a rigid lid is not required. See paper boxes.
Rigid Gift Boxes
Typical use: gift sets, heavier vessels and packs where the box is part of the gift.
What affects the spec: closed jar height, insert footprint and how the lid opens over the filled well.

Magnetic / Foldable Rigid Boxes
Typical use: gift candles and collections that need a controlled open.
What affects the spec: lid clearance over the closed jar, and whether the empty box should fold flatter.
When it may be suitable: when presentation opening matters. A foldable construction may reduce empty shipping volume; that is not a universal logistics advantage. See magnetic boxes.
Mailer / Shipping Boxes
Typical use: e-commerce orders, outer shipping packs and fulfillment programs.
What affects the spec: the closed size of the presentation pack, or the jar if the mailer is the only outer.
When it may be suitable: when dispatch is a separate job from the gift lid. See mailer shipping boxes.
Sleeves & Wraps
Typical use: seasonal artwork or collection variations on a compatible inner pack.
What affects the spec: locked outer dimensions and how the sleeve slides or wraps.
When it may be suitable: when vessel size and insert stay the same. A sleeve cannot be reused if the jar or tray dimensions change.

The insert geometry is confirmed from the actual candle vessel and packaging requirements. A custom insert can help control product movement inside the box, but the packaging should still be evaluated as a complete system for handling and shipping.
Well size follows vessel diameter, height, glass shape, lid or cap height, cavity clearance, how the jar is loaded, presentation and whether the pack also ships. Measure the closed jar, not the vessel body alone.
Paperboard or card inserts are common when the outline can be cut. Molded pulp can be considered when a formed well fits the jar. EVA can be considered when the outline is irregular. Material is chosen from the vessel — not assumed for every candle brief. This page does not claim drop-test, shock-proof or vibration-proof performance.

Materials, Printing & Finishing
Material selection depends on the candle vessel, product weight, box structure, quantity and intended use. Folding paperboard is used for lighter cartons and sleeves. Art paper over greyboard is common on a rigid gift lid. Kraft can be used on a quieter wrap or shipper. Corrugated board is for an outer mailer. Paperboard or molded pulp is used for a jar well where it fits.
CMYK and Pantone are usual print routes. Foil, embossing or debossing, matte or gloss lamination, soft-touch and spot UV can be placed after the lid or panel size is locked. Finishing is chosen with the structure, not as a default list for every candle lid. Mailers often stay simpler than the gift face.

The Brief
A candle jar needs a presentation box with an insert that holds the vessel in a defined position.
The Packaging Challenge
Vessel dimensions, lid clearance and product weight affect the cavity and the finished box size. A well taken only from the glass body leaves the lid against the pack lid. A loose square well lets the jar move.
Our Solution
The outer box is developed around the candle vessel and insert. Insert layout is confirmed from the actual product dimensions. Box structure is selected according to presentation and shipping requirements. Fit and lid close are reviewed during sampling.
Why This Structure
A rigid gift box can be considered when presentation is important. A folding carton may be suitable for a lighter candle. If the presentation box ships to consumers, an outer mailer can be considered separately. No structure is assumed for every candle program.

How should candle packaging fit the jar?
The insert should follow the jar diameter and the closed height including the lid. A generic square well usually lets the glass slide.
Can candle packaging be a gift box and a shipper?
Those are often two structures. A presentation box can sit inside a mailer, or the mailer can be the only outer. Confirm both if you need both.
Do you make packaging for candle sets?
Yes. Two-jar layouts use a box plus a two-well insert so the jars do not knock.
What materials are used for candle boxes?
Greyboard and art paper for gifts; folding board for sleeves; corrugated for mailers; molded pulp for jar wells where it fits.
Can the box be printed if the jar already has a label?
Yes. Some programs print only a small mark on the box; others print a full wrap. That choice is part of the brief.
